Woodfordia’s New Youth Space

On Thursday 26 December, Youth Season Campers are invited to attend the opening of Dja-Mandji – a shaded hangout area for the festival’s ever-growing tribe of teens. It’s a Jinibara phrase that means “place of friends”. Sunny Coast crooners, The Dreggs, will be playing a special unplugged set, warming up the space for the festival ahead.

As always, this is a programme created by, with and for many, many people. With 1500+ shows across 25 stages, we’re hoping there’s something to satiate all Woodfordians, great and small.

Calling all puzzle buffs! An artwork of monumental importance has been broken into 16 jigsaw pieces and scattered across Woodfordia’s online channels. Should you wish to lay eyes on this colourful creation in its exquisite entirety, you must seek out all 16 segments.

We’ll cultivate a convention of decision-making, strengthening through time, that will resonate in our work and nurture our future. We’ll plant a forest of goodwill and benefit from its shade. We will build with the eyes of artists.
We’ll provide space for our descendants to meet the challenges of their generations with vigour, courage and imagination and encourage them to celebrate their journeys with levity and frivolity.
The 500 year plan lives in our minds. It is our myth. It is a vision for how we might be and sensed by all who feel our welcome.

Our Traditional Owners are members of the Jinibara Nation. The Jinibara people are the registered Native Title holders for the Woodford area and are comprised of the descendants of Fanny Mason, known as Jowalmel, who was born in the 1840’s at Woodford, and Johnny McKenzie, known as Wangiramu, born in 1826 near Kilcoy.

The Woodford festival experience is deep, rich and colourful. It is based on a vision of inclusive and creative community, culture and tradition passed through generations, expressed through story and ceremony.
