On this Page you will find answers to frequently asked questions about camping at Woodford Folk Festival as a Volunteer. If you don’t find the answers you are looking for here, email us; volunteers@woodfordfolkfestival.com
All our crew campgrounds are pre-allocated, so please ensure that you have checked in with your Department Head to confirm which campground your team has been assigned to. In most cases, your whole department will be allocated space in the campgrounds together. Festival Volunteers will mostly be allocated to The Prairies, while Build crew will camp mostly in Cloudland. A small number of volunteers will be in the Grand Canyon. You are welcome to camp for the whole time you are volunteering. Camping allocations list is released when volunteer ticketing is turned on (late October).
If you would like to camp with friends or family, please ensure that you communicate this with your Department Head. There is also a “mixed area” for folks who prefer to camp with their volunteer friends from another department.
You may come in and camp from the day before your training session or first shift unless you start on 24 December, in which case you may arrive that day. If you have paid to upgrade to Season Camping, you will be required to join the queue to enter Season Camping on 25 December. If your first shift is earlier than the 25th, you may not enter Season Camping ahead of the patrons.
If you plan on upgrading to Season, communicate this to your Department Head and ask to start later on 25 December. If you have upgraded to Season Camping and need to get into the campground on 25 December, you will not be required to pay for the Christmas Day upgrade.
Yes, you are welcome to bring your immediate family into your camping area, however, you will not be able to bring in extended family and friends. Our general rule of thumb is – if you would usually share a house/room you are welcome to share a campsite. If you would like to camp with a large group of friends and family, we suggest you purchase the upgrade to Season Camping (which opens on the 25th of December).
If you require power for medical reasons, please go to the accessibility page and complete the online form. There is no fee to upgrade to the Accessible camping sites if this is required. Alternatively, there will be a limited number of flat powered sites available for volunteers out at the Woodford Showgrounds.
Yes! Volunteers will be able to hire a tent city tent for the duration of their stay at the festival. It will be $200 for tent hire regardless of your required length of stay (whether you are build or festival vollie, the price remains the same!).
For more information about Tent City and how to book go to: Tent City Hire for Volunteers

There are a lot (a LOOOT) more people on site for the Woodford Folk Festival than attend the smaller events throughout the year and as such, we have specific campgrounds for patrons, volunteers, stall-holders, artists and presenters. We encourage you to have a read of the information on the Volunteer Camping at Woodford Folk Festival page. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at volunteers@woodfordfolkfestival.com
