
Annalee Pope
Annalee is a Waka Waka woman from Central Queensland. She began working to revive and strengthen Aboriginal languages in 2013 when she took on the Coordinator role at the Central Queensland Language Centre. Annalee has since become a mentor for young language champions and is using her skills and experience to guide and support young language workers with their language aspirations.
International Year of Indigenous Languages
2019 has been the UN International Year of Indigenous Languages. A panel of Indigenous language experts will showcase their language activities and achievements, making suggestions for how individuals and organisations can act locally to support the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language workers into the future.
