Anna van Dijk

Anna has been swing dancing since 2009 and has developed an extensive passion for 1920–40s jazz dance, encompassing lindy hop, charleston, swing, balboa, shag, blues, solo & tap; as well as related styles such as Ghanian dance, Guinean dance & early swing styles (peabody, after seven, cake walk).

Anna has taken her obsession for jazz dance around the world and has taught in Australia, Belgium, Norway, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Greece and the UK; as well as picking up competition trophies in Sweden, France, Spain and Poland.

Back in Melbourne, Anna teaches weekly classes for dancers of all levels, as well as leading Hot Jam – a talented dance troupe devoted to creative performance. In class she is passionate about sharing authentic body movement and rhythm with her students, and seeks to build a positive and empowering environment for people to explore the dance.?

Exotic Solo Blues Dance

Anna leads a dance class for solo dancers at all levels based on the historic performance and social dancing of African American artists such as Josephine Baker, Marie Bryant, Al Minns and Sandra Gibson, creating a social space where dancers can release their inhibitions and dance fully.
