Qualified artist and facilitator, Rene has a special interest in the practice and philosophy of basket weaving using natural plant fibres. She shares her knowledge through weaving circles and facilitates grassroots journeys to remote Indigenous Australian communities, for deep connection to land, culture, healing and traditional weaving.

Create a special medicine pot by weaving with Lomandra longifolia, a beautiful local fibre. A ceremonial space where you will be nurtured and held safely in a circle of like-minded beings, sharing, breathing and creating together. Great for beginners and more advanced weavers. Ages 12+

Create a special medicine pot by weaving with Pandanus spiralus, a unique premium weaving fibre from Arnhem Land, in a two strand twisting or twining technique. A ceremonial space where you will be nurtured and held safely in a circle of like-minded beings, sharing, breathing and creating together. Great for beginners and more advanced weavers. Ages 12+

Weaving is Healing with Piccabeen

Create a random weave basket from local fibre piccabeen palm inflorescence in a ceremony style immersive healing circle. In this process, we will notice the patterns in our lives that are reflected in the structure and fibre of the weave. We will learn how to tap into the deep wisdom of weaving for guidance and insights into an expanded way of being. This is a trauma-informed practice. Ages 12+

Weaving Plant Walk

A walk to showcase the different weaving fibres that grow onsite, with explanations on how to harvest, prepare and store them for future use. No plants will be damaged in this process.
