I first came as a volunteer, was part of online ticketing, got an idea of Woodford and was hooked. The art and sculptures are really inspiring, the bamboo structures make me feel part of something really special. I feel blessed to be around the art.
We live in a sunburnt country and when it’s the middle of summer, the heat is truly on. Depending on the schedule you have planned, you may be outside for long periods of time in the sun. Being properly prepared for the warmer weather will prevent you from letting a small hiccup affect any part of your day.
Central to Woodfordia is an ethos of community and sustainability. Food is vital to the human sense of community and belonging, and here at Woodford we believe that this is as much a part of the festival experience as the music. For that reason, organizers nurture relationships with the best producers, stallholders and liquor providers to ensure the best possible experience for patrons.
The Sacred Labyrinth is a magical space where anyone can walk a path to the heart and connect more deeply with themselves.
In past years, Robin and her troupe of installation artists, ceremony weavers and musicians have the design ‘The Sacred Union Labyrinth’ as a 10 x 10 meter meditative walk that patrons can experience any time during the festival.
We owe the motor vehicle so much. It’s liberated us from the tyranny of distance, given us freedom and the ability to expand our horizons, and inspired some of the best rock songs ever (all by Chuck Berry).
Now in its 33rd year, there are many friendly faces returning to Woodfordia. Yet even the most seasoned Woodfordians sometimes forgets to pack a few items essential for the best possible experience.
If all the acts in this year’s Woodford Folk Festival programme were strung end-to-end, the performances would run for 93 continuous days – that’s 279 business days, or 56 working weeks!
Forgot your tent poles? Wondering where to stock up on supplies? Need ice? The General Store is here for you! Conveniently located in Season Camping right by the Welcome Gate, the General Store has everything you need – 636 items in fact.
In the midst of the Moreton Bay region, there is the 500-acre Woodford Folk Festival. It is considered as a hidden treasure of South-East Queensland. The site is conveniently an hour’s drive from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Here you will discover cool swimming holes, pristine beaches that line the many islands found in Moreton Bay.
Each year, more than 2,600 volunteers help transform the 500-acre festival site at Woodfordia into a fully functioning pop-up town the size of a regional centre like Lismore – and some of the more unusual jobs to help make it all happen are still up for grabs!
